Abstract
Lonoa, a permanent field site for behavioral research on bonobos, was established in the Kokolopori Bonobo Reserve after reconnaissance trips and local collaborations. The reserve supports a large bonobo population protected by local taboos against hunting, and since 2005, efforts have been made to track these groups for longitudinal studies. The establishment of a research camp has facilitated access to a range of habitats where ongoing studies explore various aspects of bonobo behavior, ecology, and interactions with their environment.
